Audio Show with Joan Vernon, talking about her IGFA Tournament of Champions winnings this year and her further fishing plans for the year, and her extensive knowledge about the status of the fight to overturn the Mexican Shark Norma regulation. As Vice Chair of the Billfish Foundation Joan was able to share that Dr. Nelson recently raised $30,000 at one tournament to pay for dedicated legal service to oppose NOM-029. And we could not let Joan go without getting her perspective on marlin fishing in Venezuela as she does host the Presidential Caribbean Cup at Marina Portofino, Venezuela on Oct. 12-14, 2007. Dave Ferrell, editor of Marlin magazine wrote an excellent piece on this subject in their recent issue along with his editors' note on the same subject. Dave and Joan both say don't give up on Venezuela as you will quite possibly catch as many marlin there in a few days fishing as compared to an entire season potentially somewhere else. And Joan is one of the leading ladies of billfishing a sport that increasingly sees first class individuals working together in conservation and enjoyment while benefiting charter captains and communities by the cash infusion they provide.
